In 1917 was a Resident of:
51, Master Bakers Almshouses
Lea Bridge Road Leyton E10
Designed by Thomas Edward Knightley in an Italianate style and built between 1857 and 1866 for the London Master Bakers Benevolent Institution.
In 1832 the London Master Bakers Benevolent Institution was founded, to assist impoverished tradesmen. In 1857 they bought a plot in then rural Leyton, about five miles from the City, and built their Almshouses with 52 cottages.
The buildings are still in existence, though extensively refurbished.
The area is known as the Bakers Arms, after a rather jokily named pub next to the almshouses.
