    • The Shepreth parish records show that a Thomas Free married Mary Malden at Shepreth on 26 July 1753 and that a Thomas Free (x) , w of Shepreth married Ann Searle (x) from Melbourn at Shepreth on 19 October 1755. The witnesses to the second marriage were William Ware and William Harden.
      The records show that a John and Mary Free, whose parents were T homas and Mary, were baptised at Shepreth on 15 February 1756. John was recorded as being two years old. There is no record of a Mary Free being buried at Shepreth after 1851. An Anne Free, a widow, was buried at Shepreth on 11 October 1783 and John Free, 62 of Shepreth was buried there on 19 September 1815.

      The 1841 census has a William (60) and Elizabeth Free (59) living on High Street in Chesterton. Both had been born in the county.

      The 1851 census shows William (72 year-old labourer born in Shepreth) and his wife Elizabeth (68, Chesteron) at the house of William’s ‘step-son’ William Edwards (31 year-old gardener born at Dullingham in Cambridgeshire) his wife Rebecca (31, Chesterton) and two daughters: Joanna (9, Chesterton) and Isobel (7, Everton Bedforshire).
