Hi Darryl - I am glad the info was a help to you - perhaps she didnt quite come out alone - other girl friends - cousins whose name you dont know and also single at the age of 30 wasnt a great life for a British girl - and Australia was always keen for single women to come out here for the marriage market. Perhaps she had friends out here already So there could have been lots of reasons and also by Nov 1913 Britain was on the brink of WW1 and a very worrying time leading up to the outbreak of the war Bye for now

ORAMA was a short-lived ship.
12,927 gross tons, length 167,95m x beam 19,56m (551ft x 64.2ft), two funnels, two masts, triple screw and a speed of 18 knots, accommodation for 240-1st, 210-2nd and 630-3rd class passengers. Built by John Brown & Co, Clydebank, she was launched for the Orient Steam Navigation Company she was launched for the Orient Line on 28th Jun.1911 and started her maiden voyage from London via Suez to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane on 10th Nov.1911 and stayed on this service until 1914. In 1914 she was commissioned as an Armed Merchant Cruiser and on 19th Oct.1917, while escorting a convoy, in company with eight US Destroyers, she was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U.62 off the south Irish coast while escorting a convoy.
