  • Notes 
    • At the age of 22 he was convicted and sentenced for 15 years for Horse Stealing. In 1850 he was transported to Western Australia on the "Scindian" - the first convict ship to W.A. with 75 other convicts.

      In 1851 he was given a ticket of leave and worked as a labourer.
      In 1853 he married Lucy Nash who came to Western Australia as a free settler with her sister aboard the "Mary" in 1852.

      In 1857 he became self employed as a Butcher in North Fremantle. William and Lucy Carter had four children:
