    Notes
    • Albert Norman was born to Mary Louisa Wood and John Wade. Mary Louisa was of Spanish descent but little is know of that part of her life. Because she was only 14 and he only 17 they were not allowed to marry at that time, however they did marry when she was 17 and he 20. Mary Louisa was nursemaid to the two little sons of a Methodist Minister, their names were Albert and Norman and that is where Albert Norman Wood got his name. He was registered in his Mothers name and because his Father was still serving his apprenticeship as a Mechanic and his Mother retained her job. Albert Norman went to live with his Grandmother Jane Annie Addy and remained with her until his father brought his family to Australia. After their marriage three more children were born in England, including John Wade (three) and a further seven after they came to Australia, they were born in Boulder City and Kalgoorlie. Albert Norman did not want to come to Australia, he did not want to leave his beloved Grandmother but she was getting old and his Father felt they could not leave him. After arriving in Australia and whilst still living with his family Albert Norman was known as WADE, however he never really settled or felt part of that family and left home when he was about 15 and was thereafter known as WOOD (it was his legal name his Father never legally adopted him as was the practice back then) he joined the army in the first world war, was married and all his children were known by WOOD.
