  • Notes
    • The 1841 census shows Elizabeth (30) at the house of her parents, John and Elizabeth, at Church End Haslingfield. Also present were Elizabeth's children Eliza (5) and Ann (3) Finkell.

The 1851 census for Haslingfield shows Elizabeth (42, unmarried housekeeper) living at Haslingfield with her older brother William Finkell (a 52 year-old, unmarried farmer of 80 acres and employing two indoor and two outdoor labourers) as well as Elizabeth's three daughters: Elizabeth Finkell (15, dressmaker), Ann Finkell (13, unmarried, scholar) and Sarah Ann Finkell (9 scholar).

The Haslingfield parish registers show that an Elizabeth and Ann Finkell (both illegitimate daughters of an Elizabeth Finkell) were baptised there in 1835 and 1839 respectively. Ann's death certificate indicates that her father was a William Hall who Rose Parkin believes was a police officer who was born in Haslingfield in 1806 and was buried there on 16 October 1874..

In 1854 Elizabeth (aged 46) emigrated to Australia on the sailing ship CONSTANT which left Southampton on 8 November 1854 and arrived at Portland on 22 February 1855. With her were her three daughters and two sons-in-law Joseph Barnard and Samuel Coxall (see notes for the entries for Elizabeth jnr and Ann). The ship's record indicates that Elizabeth and her youngest daughter Sarah could both read and write and that they were travelling on their own accord to Melbourne.

The Victorian bdms show Elizabeth died soon after she arrived in Melbourne.
