Vernon and Alice visited Australia in 1937-38, and I have copies of telegrams wishing them a pleasant journey, which were sent to them by friends and a cousin of Alice's named Annie Wooster. Alice had two uncles (brothers of her mother Ethel Ada Walker Hauser) living in Australia- Robert and Charles Walker. Their descendants are still living in Australia. While living in Australia Alice's family sometimes used the last name Marquard(t) instead of Hauser, since my great-grandmother didn't like the way the Australians pronoused Hauser (or so the family story goes.)
