  • Notes
    • The family were boot makers and one was a policemen.
      My great grandparents:
      Edward Weblin (Bootmaker)
      Eliza Weblin (nee Sparham)
I have these details from the birth certificate of my grandfather (Robert).
He was born on August 8th 1881 at:

      16 Wilmot Road
      Hanwell, Middlesex.

Robert Weblin married Minnie Westerman on March 29th 1902 at the Parish Church Hanwell
At some point between tose two dates, Edward had died.

I have the details above on copy birth/mariage certificates. I should be pleased to send you a copy if you feel that they may be of interest. Best regards,
      John Robert Weblin - JWeblin-at-aol.com - 2002

John Allen Weblin 1912 was my father's elder brother. John Robert Weblin is his only son. John has little knowledge of the family and is not too interested - so when Keith originally contacted him, John passed him on to me in the assumption I could be of more help.

We are all ancestors of Edward Weblin b in Hanwell, London W7 in 1847 and we are pretty sure that Peter is a descendant of Edward's brother who moved from there to the Midlands. Without the hard copy from the new disc - I can't give more details but will send them to Peter.

I was telling Peter that in 1992, i received a letter from a woman called Iris who lived in Market Drayton, Shropshire who said her mother's maiden name was Weblin and who my cousin John had referred to me. Iris said her grandfather was a cobbler called Will Weblin and married to Pheobe. They lived in Birmingham and moved to Warcs at the start of the last war, where she stayed with them in Upper Boddington. She told me she would have another go at her cousin Ron Weblin but he very slow.

I sent Iris the 'tree' Keith sent me a few years later but it was returned by the new occupants at the address because she had died.
The 'tree' indicates that the family trade was shoe making and cobbling coming from Aaron Weblin b 1808 in Clewer, Berks and moving to the West London area, where Peter, Keith's and my ancestors lived.

The family came to England from Germany in the 16C - they were political refugees and became brewers marrying into the Whitbread family. They have a coat of arms and a motto - Perseverance! Keith has contacted family in Australia, New Zealand and USA. The decendents of the original Nicholas Weblinge settled in London but out branch were found in Aldington Kent in 18C and moved to Clewer, Berks around 1770s through marriage. Clewer is in sight of Windsor Castle - a very pretty village with River Thames tributaries all around. By that time, the Weblins had become labourers and the mortality rate was extremely poor, judging by Keith Weblin's tree.

Aaron moved to West London and he is the common ancestor of Peter and his father's line to ours.
